DLsite 101: Registering as a Translator
Get this, Gooner Gang – the Translators have United, and nothing can stop them now!
That’s right, continuing from last week’s TU intro explaining the ins and outs (and ins and outs...) of our little fan-forward translation service, now it’s time to learn how you can be a translator yourself!
Please note that translators need to be fluent in both Japanese and their chosen target language, otherwise they won’t pass DLsite’s internal review.
With that out of the way, let’s get started!
First step: have a DLsite account. That’s an easy one, and I expect a lot of you already do.
Step two: register as a circle! This is a bit more involved. First you click this button on the homepage here (you need to be logged out to do this).
Then just input all the requested information on this and the following page...
Great! Now it’s time for the fun part – buying something. Search here to see available works! Make sure your target language is available first, then buy!
Next you’ll want to go to the top right and open up your circle management page. Then from there, check on the left for your Translators Unite Management page!

Your purchased work(s) should be there waiting... so hit that “Apply to translate” button!
Now you wait. Eventually you’ll get an email with further instructions, but for now, why not read the translation guide so you know just what our review team is looking for?
Guide read and email received, it’s time to translate... And the rest is simple! Translate, pass review, and wait a little while... then your work is on sale! Enjoy spreading doujin culture a little bit further across the world, and maybe reap some rewards while you’re at it!
This article was a bit more involved, but we do still like to keep it simple here. Stay tuned for next week’s article, where surely we’ll be covering another very vital aspect of the DLsite experience. I promise I've picked a topic already. Anyway, we’ll be ci-en you!
