突如として体に降り掛かってきた衝撃に、ララは地面に突っ伏した。
『獣か！？』
その瞬間、原住生物に飛びかかられたのかと思ったが、自分の両脚に抱きつく人影を見て彼女は愕然とする。
毛のない猿のような人間が興奮に涎を垂らしながら自分のショーツに手をかけているのだ。
その手はゴリラのように大きく、肌はサイや象のようにゴツゴツとした硬さだった。
『これが悪魔の正体か！』
先住民が恐れていた物の正体を目の当たりにし、ララは肌が粟立った。
猿は唸り声を上げ、ニヤニヤと笑っている。どうみても人間ではない。
ララはこの化け物たちを撃ち殺すことに躊躇はなかった。だが銃は倒れた時に手から滑り落ちてしまっていた。
「くそっ！」
ララはそれを拾い上げようと手を伸ばすが、もう一人の類人猿にそれを遠くに蹴り飛ばされてしまう。
こいつらは銃を知っているのだ。
そして類人猿達は悠々と彼女を地面に組み伏せてくる。
「ちくしょう！離せ！」
彼らの力はまるでゴリラのようで、ララはその手を振りほどく事ができない。
彼女を見下ろす猿の相貌が好色そうに歪んでいた。
『まさか…』
ララの悪い予感は当たった。

翌朝、鮎原は学校に姿を見せていない。
空手部主将の鬼瓦だけが顔を腫らして登校してきた。
「おい！昨日の試合はどうなったんだよ！鮎原は！？」
休み時間に鬼瓦を捕まえて問い詰めると、彼は顔をしかめて目を伏せた。
「鮎原はその…、結果的には負けたっていうか、人数が足りなかったからそもそも不戦敗で…」
彼は辛そうに言葉を濁す。予想した通りだ。
