This is the ever-unlucky BBQ.
Recently, our scriptwriter fell ill, and on the very same day I received the email, our artist suddenly informed me that he was also sick and had been hospitalized.
At the same time, I just finished a dental visit to repair a tooth that had been fixed years ago, only to find it hurts even more now.
Returning to the dental clinic, the doctor gave me a "there's nothing we can do..." and then I was lucky enough to get a root canal treatment.
As of writing this, my tooth is still hurting. I guess the nerve-killing medication is working, but the pain feels like I’ve been beaten up by the doctor (which might well be true?).
According to Japanese beliefs, these last two years have been my unlucky years, and I'm starting to wonder if I should really go to a temple and have some kind of exorcism ceremony.
Jokes aside, let's report on the progress of the Priest RPG!
Actually, during Golden Week, I secretly went home for a few days to relax with my cat. I didn’t tell anyone, haha.
Now, let’s start the work report.
First, regarding the issues discussed about the Steam platform last time, here are the decisions made after internal discussions within the group:
Dlsite remains the top priority for the group. Dlsite will always be the first release platform or at least simultaneous release.
For works released on the Steam platform, if there are no well-known Western sensitive content issues, they will be released directly as R18 on Steam, meaning the complete R18 version will be uploaded on Steam.
In cases where there is Western sensitive content, a non-adult version will be uploaded, and users will need to use an R18 patch to play.
Although the Steam platform has more sophisticated achievement systems than Dlsite, I will update some content as freebies directly into the game on Dlsite to ensure equal treatment and consistent user experience across different platforms.
In summary, listing on Steam is just a means to an end. The goal is still to provide fans with another payment method and to generate more revenue for the group, which in turn enables us to create bigger games. BBQ really wants to make an open-world eroge.
Now that we’ve finished talking about Steam, let’s talk about work!
First, regarding the FPS game, we have adjusted the main character model, resizing the head so that the proportions are now correct. We also tested the updated anime-style rendering, which now meets the average standard of anime mobile games. We added FSR and DLSS to the game, and according to tests, a laptop with a 2060 GPU can maintain over 35 FPS in the most graphically demanding levels on Epic settings (one level higher than high). This means a 960 GPU can maintain a stable 30 FPS!
Next, for the priest game, No. 2 has created a more complete task system including UI, and the combat and synthesis systems are basically completed. Many outdoor maps have been drawn, and our artist 鶸虫wolm has created many beautiful CGs. When the demo is released, everyone will be amazed. We have also started creating a model for the priest's sister. The future ASMR should be in 3D, and we also plan to make a player for it, so stay tuned!
Lastly, regarding Steam, the English version of Kabukicho is still being translated. In a few days, our freelance artist will start working on collectible card content for Nebel. Kabukicho is expected to be released in June, but the exact date is still under discussion as the game has not yet passed Steam’s review. Their review process is really strict.
This is BBQ, who didn't take a single day off during Golden Week. Work is really fun (sarcastically). The Steam page for Kabukicho is now live. Please note that since the English version is not yet complete, the page does not indicate English support, but rest assured, there will be an English version available at launch! If possible, I would appreciate it if you could add it to your wishlist. Thank you!
Additionally, I've been under a lot of work pressure recently, with many decisions to make, so the frequency of updates for my notes will increase slightly in the near future. After all, I’d like to hear everyone’s opinions on many matters.
Oh and, English fans please rest assured, we are working on EN sub for our Nebel ASMR part II
Here's BBQ, who's been overworking to the point of exhaustion (guess why I'm posting at this hour). I've finally managed to complete the translation and synchronized lyric production for the Chinese and Japanese versions just in time for the launch. By the time this article is published, the second part of Nebel's derivative ASMR should be online as scheduled. Although the plot continues from the first part of the ASMR, thanks to the excellent performance by 陽向葵ゅかsama and the effort of the scriptwriter, even those who are completely unfamiliar with the Nebel game and the previous audio works can thoroughly enjoy nearly two hours of nice experience.
If you have any thoughts or comments on the ASMR itself or the Nebel series, please feel free to leave a review or comment under the Dlsite product page or this article.
After the second part, the story of the ASMR has come to a pause, and BBQ will now fully commit to the production of the Priest and FPS...
In fact, I'm already discussing with 月見sama and 鶸蟲sama on how the new CG should be designed. 鶸蟲's drawing is just too amazing...
